personality for an engine is the settings. Think of how these engines run differently with where they are used and for what purpose. Could be a generator engine or a yacht engine, etc. The code tells what group of settings it has. Personality of the engine changes how it runs.
the manufactured year should be on the engine somewhere on a sticker relating to the emissions compliance.

Look on the engine block for the stamp- under the cylinder heads, on the side of the block.
